Powercode Bandwidth Management

In order to utilize the full capabilities of Powercode, such as network monitoring, traffic shaping, and automatic subscriber redirect, Powercode software requires an ImageStream BMU within the ISP’s network. Powercode has partnered with ImageStream to enable their routers to function as both a Bandwidth Management Unit and a full featured router. This capability enables an ISP to seamlessly configure their network through the Powercode software interface.

Set Customer Internet Speed
The Powercode BMU includes integrated bandwidth management. It is very easy to use. When you add a monthly Internet plan, part of the information you enter is the upload and download speed. When you add this monthly plan to a customer's account, their computers are automatically set to get the pre-defined speed. If the customer upgrades their Internet plan, the new speed is automatically changed.

Graphical History
A colored graph is created for each computer. This graph shows a history of bandwidth usage (upload and download). Reports can also be run to show which customers are using the most bandwidth.

Dynamic Bandwidth Limiter
The Powercode BMU watches for users that are abusing the Internet. If a customer is using too much bandwidth, they are slowed down automatically by the Powercode BMU, based on the choking rules set up by you. This helps improve the overall speed of the network.

Bill for Usage
Bandwidth usage information is sent to the billing engine, which can then be used to bill customers for actual usage.

Email Paging
Each equipment item can be configured so that when it goes down, an email notification is sent. It also sends an email when the equipment has come back up.

Graphical History
The monitoring engine keeps a history of packet loss and network latency. This is very helpful to spot problem areas before they take the network down. It also helps in trouble shooting issues.

Equipment Hierarchy
The Powercode BMU keeps track of what access point customers are pointed to, knows what path customer's traffic takes to get the Internet, links all equipment together, and shows how your network connects.

Auto Sign Up
If a new customer tries to access the Internet through one of your access points, they can be redirected to a sign up page. They can then enter their information, pay, and gain access to the Internet.

Web Redirect
Customer's web traffic can be redirected to a customized web page for any reason. This is especially helpful when a customer is not paying their bill or has a virus. You can create as many web redirect pages as you wish.

Wireless Customer Provisioning
Easily add any wireless radio to a customer's account. The wireless radio is then approved for access to the Internet through the Powercode BMU. If you ever need to shut off a customer, just change their status, and the radio is disconnected from the Internet.

VoIP/QoS
Easily configure what types of services, like VoIP, get a high priority. Setup priority based packet queuing, priority levels, and priority based on port.
