Gateway Express™
BLAZING - 1.5 MILLION+ pps Throughput
4U RACKMOUNT DESIGN
The Gateway Express™ router is a high-performance midrange router for applications that require wire-speed performance over T1/E1, DS3/E3, OC3/STM1, OC12/STM4 and gigabit ethernet connections. All Gateway Express models include an easy-to-service 19-inch 4U rackmount chassis with locking access door, removable processor card, high-performance memory, PCI Express backplane, and onboard dual 10/100/1000 ethernet ports. All models support options for redundant AC or DC power, and flash storage with no moving parts for maximum reliability.
The Gateway Express is available in three models including the IC4, the CI7, and the IX4/IX8. The IC4 and CI7 provide the same backplane with different CPU cards, and a Core 2 Quad CPU with the IC4 or a Core i7 CPU with the CI7. The IC4 and CI7 backplane provides one x16 and three x1 PCI Express slots, and four 32-bit 33 MHz PCI slots on two PCI buses. The IX4 and IX8 provide a common CPU card and switching backplane, with one quad core Xeon processor in the IX4 or two in the IX8.
The PCI and PCI Express slots accept ImageStream LAN, WAN and voice interface cards. With these add-on cards, the Gateway can connect IP data networks using T1/E1, DS3/E3, OC3/STM1, OC12/STM4, 10 Mb to 10 Gb ethernet, basic rate ISDN (BRI), and 56 K dial-up circuits. Voice cards include support for analog FXO/FXS, basic rate ISDN (BRI), and T1/E1 Primary Rate ISDN (PRI).
The Gateway Express takes advantage of the ImageStream Linux™ router distribution, which provides support for NAT firewall security, IPsec and SSL virtual private networks (VPNs), quality of service (QoS), VLAN tagging, VoIP Gateway, SoftPBX, Lawful Intercept (including CALEA), VRRP for LAN failover, dynamic routing, packet filtering, bridging, peer-to-peer traffic control, Azotel SIMPLer OSS support and more. ImageStream Linux also includes the Inetics™ platform, which provides a tightly integrated Linux kernel, management software, and the Inetics Driver Component Architecture (IDCA). IDCA supports WAN protocols including PPP, Cisco HDLC, frame relay, ATM, and SoftCell™ ATM. Inetics also makes it easy to troubleshoot LAN and WAN connections by providing real-time port status and performance monitoring.
Gateway Express routers can be used in a wide range of applications from the core to the edge. They are ideal for high-performance applications that require wire-speed performance with redundant power. Gateway Express routers work in most applications where the Cisco 1013, 3945 and 7206 routers are deployed, and they are commonly used in multihomed networks that require high-speed ethernet or SONET/SDH connectivity. Gateway Express routers are ideal for use in service provider and telco core and edge applications, enterprise core and Internet gateway applications, and other networks where a high level of performance, scalability, and redundancy is required.
